Question:
Why haven't I lost weight in the past week?

I was losing 2-3 pounds per day for the first two weeks post-op and then it just stopped! I haven't lost even .5 lb. in the last 5 days. What's going on? I thought this was supposed to be the "honeymoon" period? Help?    — Soobie (posted on June 9, 2003)

You've probably hit a small plateau. I did the same at 3 weeks post-op. Make sure you are following your doctor's orders and drinking all your fluids. It will come off! I was weighing myself almost every day and believe me nothing will depress you more. Try weighing in once a month, it will be worth your effort. Good luck to you!

as with all honeymoons, perfection is hard to acheive. However that doesn't mean the marraige is over. Hang tough, these things happen on and off while you lose.

It is perfectly normal to hit a plateua at about 3-4 weeks after surgery. Your body is adjusting to all the changes and is taking a much needed breather to catch up. The weigtloss will start again soon, so just stick to your gameplan. Your doing GREAT!!

Susan, you have a long road ahead of you, and you will have times when you lose, when you do not lose for days and weeks and days when you have gained a few pounds. Do not compare your loss to others or you will go nuts and do not expect to lose daily or even weekly. If you can't do this without getting depressed, then stay off the scale. As I tell other new post-ops, relax, stick to the pouch rules and enjoy the ride..this is the easy part!
