Question:
I'm 8 and 1/2 weeks post op 5'11 and started out at 311

I'm down 45 pounds I know this is good :) but I was just wondering of other post op with similar stats and where they are at this point. I know we should not compare and that everyone is diffrent. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, I only walk like 1 mile on the treadmill twice a week. and I'm not getting in all the water that I should be :(    — Maribelle C. I had surgery Aug. 11th, I'm 5'7" and started out at 302. I've lost 84 pounds in exactly 4 months, and I feel wonderful! I have alot of trouble getting in my water, but was told I could count anything without caffein, so I drink Diet Orange Slice, and Crystal Light alot. I hated water before, and I'm not crazy about it now, but I feel great! Keep up the good work!

Hi, our stats are very similar. I started at 330 and am 5'11". I had to look back in my profile to see how much I had lost at 8 weeks. I was down almost 50 pounds at that time. I am now 5 months postop and down 93 pounds. I think you are doing great!! One of my goals was to be down 100 by my 6 month appt and I believe I will do it!!

Hey! I had open rny 4/17/01 (over 2 1/2 years post-op). I am also 5'11" but started heavier than you. My preop weight was 389. At 8 weeks I had lost 58 lbs. I am now down 200 lbs and holding at about 185-190. I feel wonderful. My doctors goal was to get under 200 and I made it! My personal goal was 165-175. I would love to get there but if I don't I am very happy where I am. I had a TT May and that had wonderful results also! Good luck on your journey and if I can help you in anyway please email me!

Just keep working on slowly increasing the water. It takes time! From my perspective the twice a week is fine for the stage you are at. Slowly work on extending it and then faster. You don't want to end up exercising every day because what will you do later on when you need to change something to break a plateau. <p>I am 5'9 and started at 442. I lost about 42 lbs at 8 weeks, so you are ahead of me. At 10 months PO I was down 204 lbs so it does come off. I'm 38 lbs from goal weight. Your journey will be significantly less than mine was and you are already down 45 lbs, so do not even think twice about it. What you are doing is working so leave it alone. I did walking and 30 minutes of weight training from 9 weeks PO to 7 months PO. Then I increased it to 3 times a week and hope to keep it there for the rest of my life. My goal is to only "have" to do the 3 days a week and then anything else I do is just for fun and not required to maintain my weight. My walking came very slow. I was 6 months PO before I could walk 1 mile continuously. Once I reached that then the progress made great jumps. I was able to extend the distance and up the speed and incline. It's amazing how things continue to improve! Keep up the great work!

I was 308 on surgery day 4/15/03, and I'm 5'10". Now 8 months later, I weigh 198. What makes you think you're doing something wrong--that you haven't lost more? You're doing great! Now start working on increasing your water--sip sip sip all day long. :)
