Traci, I'm sorry to hear of your situation. I come and read these posts 30 or so times a week, as I try to stay up on how folks are doing. To be honest, I am surprised at the amount of weight you've lost. I'm sure a bunch of other people could come on and tell you they've also lost less than half the weight they had needed to lose in their first 18 months. But in my opinion, this is NOT normal, and I am worried about you (and any of them). I'm not going to condemn you by implying you must be doing something wrong with your "plan of attack". Therefore, all of my advice has to do with your relationship with your surgeon. Is he/she aware of your status?? What do they think is the reason?? Do they think this is normal?? Is it possible there is an internal problem?? Note I am not talking about "stretching your pouch" - I consider that to be normal and expected. You will get advice on how you should increase your exercise, document what you eat, drink more water, avoid "bad food", up the protein, ad nauseum... But, personally I would encourage you to make an appointment with your surgeon to ensure there is no "medical" reason for your lack of weight loss. No one else will be in a better position to help. I apologize for the "downer" message. It is not my habit - I usually try to be a cheerleader for other WLS folks. I wish you the best of luck. Kevin

In addition to what Kevin has suggested, ask yourself the following questions: are you getting in your protein every day, are you drinking 64 oz of water every day, are you keeping the carb and sugar snacks low, and are you exercising? If the doctor says no medical problem and you can honestly answer yes to all the above questions, then just keep up the good work and it will move again. You may be on a plateau that just hasn't moved yet...also, try increasing the calories, protein, water and exercise for a few weeks-that usualy works to move a plateau along.

I would also suggest logging your food into Calorieking.com. I'm making an effort to really be good right now and was shocked that a good day was around 900 calories. I can't imagine the calories I must have been eating on my bad days.... Best of luck

Everyone has great suggestions... you don't say if you are exercising.. or following what your doctor says to do... also are you going to support group meetings? I think that support groups probably help a lot too and they might have specific suggestions. I highly agree with keeping track of what you're eating. I use fitday and I can also keep track of my exercise too. good luck...

I'm going to give you the links to 2 groups that may help you climb over this hurdle. As Kevin said, get your mechanics checked as soon as is reasonable, but in the meantime, you can check in with those who have gone before you and broken plateaus that seemed to last forever. Grads is for people one or more years out to POST. Anyone can lurk and I highly recommend it. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG This was formerly the Protein Shakes Addict and Perverts http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OSSG-Protein/
