Question:
Has anyone gotten a discount card for dining out?

The card is for resturants explaining that you had WLS and they are supposed to let you have a child's price for food. Your doctor is supposed to issue this.    — Kelly N. (posted on November 27, 2002)

Restaurants are not "supposed" to honor this. It is entirely up to them as to whether they do or not. Ditto for doctors being obligated to issue such a card. <p> I do perfectly fine finding an appetizer or some meal that I can eat in its entirety or take part of it home in a doggie bag. Last month, I took my family to a brunch buffet, explained the situation to the waiter and he let my wife share part of her buffet with me - no charge. I gave him an extra big tip, though, because he didn't have to do it...JR

hello. i got one from my wls support group. some restaurants honor it...yesterday we went to Sizzler's and i got to order off the senior menu which was good because i didn't feel like bringing home left overs! Home Town Buffet (in our area anyway) does not honor it...apparently some non-wls people have downloaded the card from the internet (tho i've never seen one online) and tried to use it. lol..i felt like lifting my shirt and showing my scar but i decided against it! kate open rny 6-14-01 pre op: 268lbs goal: 135lbs current: 126lbs

I was giving a 'dining out' card. I am now almost 5 months post-op and I have not used my card once. From my understanding... all the card does is explain to the restaurant manager why a full sized adult is ordering a child's plate. Personally, I'd rather order the regular portion and take the rest home or have my hubby eat it.
