Question:
Ever wondered what caused you to bloat?

THE CAUSE OF BLOATING How can one be sure what causes bloating? I don't have this problem but some have mentioned it and this information might help.. Could eating lots of fruit and vegetables be a cause? If so, why? Answer The first suggestion would be to eliminate gas-forming foods. Possible offenders include: baked beans, cabbage, brussel sprouts, leeks, lentils, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, cucumbers, onions, radishes, turnips, sauerkraut, lettuce, avocados, raw apples, apple juice, watermelon,sweetmelon... Responses to these foods "vary widely", and trial periods of omitting individual items should be carried out before any foods are eliminated from the diet permanently. Legumes can be made part of the diet if they are split and the offending skin removed. To avoid bloating and flatulence caused by the swallowing of air, (using straws cause more gas and bloating)it is important to eat slowly, avoid smoking, chewing gum and drinking gassy cold drinks, carbonated drinks and icecream is also offender (combination of cold & lactose)    — Victoria B.
