Question:
Is this a plateau or am I done losing?

I have lost and gained the same 4 lbs for 2 months now. Is this just a plauteau or could I actually be done losing and now I need to actually "diet" to keep losing weight? Starving myself and working out all the time didn't work before surgery so I know it's not going to work now. My RNY was April 30, 2002 and my starting weight was 260 now I'm 188 -192 depending on the day. I'm getting very discourgaged and any encouragement would sure be appreciated!    — Teresa F. I don't think you're done losing. I had my surgery a month after you, and my weight loss has slowed down alot, but I still lose. I've heard of people having plateaus for weeks and months. You're right- starbing yourself won't work now. We can't even lose weight when our bodies are starved post-op. I would suggest increasing your protein intake, even if you can increase it 5-10 grams a day, I think you will see a difference. Sometimes our bodies need change. Are you exercising? That has helped me since my loss slowed sown a bit. But this is to be expected. After 6months it slows down, but you are still in the window of opportunity. My doc said most people lose all their weight in 18months, after that it is harder, not to say it cannot be done, just harder. Goodluck to you, I'm sure you will still lose more weight!

How much protein and carbs are you eating. My doc says we should eat only protein only until we loose 75% of our weight. We are to eat at least 60 grams of protein a day. Best of luck!
