Question:
Anyone been

inappropriate things) since your surgery? I had my WLS on in September 2002. At that time I was still undergoing a LOT of stress on the job. Well, This year, on January 13, 2004, after having been abused in the past (on the job BEFORE my WLS), it happened AGAIN. I am not one to dress exposing myself and I didn't ask for this. I'm coming to you for your input and support. I have not been able to work since January 13, 2004, have lost a lost of work hours and my federal on the job claim for Worker's Compensation was DENIED!! I did not ask for what happened to me and cannot go into detail here, but I am under both psychiatric AND psychological treatment now for PTSD & Major Depression. Your input is welcomed & appreciated or you can email me privately IF there are additional questions. It's so humiliating and embarrassing...Now, my primary care physician feels the medications I'm taking may be the reason(s) for me gaining the weight back-Paxil 37.5 mg per day, Klonopin 0.5mg in the am and again at bedtime, and Trazadone (can't remember the dosage, just one pill at night. I was down to 132lbs back in December 12, 2003. This morning I discovered I'm back at 152lbs!! I cry a lot now because I cannot afford to go through the additional stress of obesity again!! Where I was getting in size 6's and 8's, I'm in 10's & 12's again. I go to see my psychiatrist today @ 6pm. I am going to email my surgeon(s). Thanks for your help! Dear Heart, I didn't get exactly what happened to you at your work and how you've handled it -- except that you haven't worked since January. If you have not already done so, you need to place a formal complaint against the person (people?) who have harrassed you. You may also want to speak to a lawyer who can help you receive whatever support is due you. I'm glad to hear that you're getting medical care. If the Paxil doesn't seem to be working and/or causing you to gain weight, there are plenty of other anti-depressants you can try. Don't give up until you find the right one! In the meantime, you MUST take care of yourself! Get excercise -- this is really important for your mental well-being as well as for your weight loss efforts. Follow the recommendations from your surgeon regarding your diet. This is especially true since you are struggling so much emotionally. If you can get a grip on your physical needs, it will help your mental state immensely!! You've got so much going now, you need to focus on one thing and get that right. Everything else will start to fall into line as you take steps to handle the other stuff. Good luck!

STEP AWAY FROM THE PAXIL!!!!!. Ask your PCP to take you off the Paxil, Paxil has a history of some pts gaining weight. Do not get on Effexor(sp?) either it is bad stuff. In my own pesonal experince ask for Celexa. I was under alot of stress at my job, and Celexa helped me keep my sanity and no weight gain. I can't say the same about Effoxor. You have my prayers and support. You will get through this!!

I take .10 mg of paxil a day --at bedtime. It works great on panic attacks. Unless you have an anxiety problem, I would ask for another drug.

First of all, give yourself a break! You once weighed 265 and even though you gained a little back, you still only weigh 152! Believe me,you are a winner! At least you can try and fix it now-try and concentrate on slowly losing the 20lbs. Don't think of it as a defeat, just a minor detour! YOU can DO IT! Good luck...

I really could use some help on this. I'm finding that it is difficult to obtain a lawyer to take my case. Seems like some lawyers are scared they will lose, but I have BOXES of documented evidence that I "COULD" whistleblow and take to the media.

Many antidepressants are not weight nuetral that is the first thing Paxil will cause weight gain. I am taking Lexapro it is made from an isolated ingredient in celexa and is a weight nuetral med. Ask your pharmacist about weight nuetral medications they usually know about this stuff than the Drs do. Good Luck to you and I hope you can find an attorney to help you resolve these issues so that you can get your life back.....Nancy
