Dear Julie: You do not have to take vacation days to have this surgery you can use short term disabilaty insurance or long term if you would need it. This is just as medically neccessary as if you were having a heart transplant. The longer you hold it off the worse you could get. Plus there is a leave of absence law in effect and you could take off 3 months for that. So The heck with Vacation time this is Medical. Sincerely: Summer
