Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I hated everything about being overweight

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

OHIP covered it in Ontario

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

Everyday I thought of how much better my lives and the lives of my children would be if only I could lose this weight.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

Doctor initially decided which was best for me.

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

As I waited in the hallway in front of the operating room.. I cried as I was scared of my kids losing their mom... but after having plenty of time to think about it I realized that either way my kids will be ok and that I was going to make it>>
