Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I tried everything to lose weight. I have been morbidly obese since my early 20's. The older I got the harder it became to do normal daily tasks. I tried weight watchers, profile by sandford, intermittent fasting, keto diet, and GLP-1s. Nothing was sustainable. It is became too costly or I was allergic to the medications. I also have several auto immune disorders that hinder weight loss. All of these issues combined caused emotion and physical distress which felt like weight loss was impossible.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing for me about being overweight was not being able to play with my granddaughter the way I wanted and wished I could.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am 7 weeks post-op and already down 30 lbs. I am able to walk without shortness of breath. I still have about 100 lbs to lose but I am already able to play with my granddaughter more every time I see her.
