Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I had Very little self esteem, nor did I care so I said! I would always say to people I was happy with the way I was but really I was very sad and alone trapped in this awful body that I couldn't escape even when I tried. I would eat constantly when I wasn't hungry why? who knows depression? maybe figured couldn't loose it might as well enjoy what I was eating it wouldn't make much difference.I remember saying I will Start my diet tomarrow and eat what I want today!, but tomarrow...became another today every day!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not being able to feel good about my self when among friends or men! and going to an amusement park and not fitting on a ride!Being replaced as front desk person with a skinny person who didn't know what the hell she was doing.....I had 5 years experience!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Just being able to move my body in ways I once forgot I could do!

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

My doctor basicly told me this was my last hope. I put it off because I was scared!

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

I have military insurance My husband is in the service. It covers this surgery but only if it is needed for health related problems

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

going next week to meet the doctor update he seemed careing but im not sure if he was overplaying the compasion $$$$$$

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

cant take being so overweight that my ancles get swollen when ever im on my feet for more that an hour.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

It was the only one this surgeon did.

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

dyeing, or not liveing a full life.

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

Beth Isreal Hospital has a support group but is an hour away from my home the meetings are at traffic hour so if i can make it on time I would be lucky. Mainly my support group is online WWW.obesityhelp.com the people at WLS have made the diffrence for me. Thank You All

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

Very large it is 6 inches long but kind of wide.

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

I have had my share of plateau's they would sometimes last two weeks but they were just what they were called because eventually you will start the loss again! Thank God

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

No not yet!
