Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was in my 20's and very large. I had twin daughters i couldnt keep up with. I hated myself and the way i looked. I felt bad for my husband having a wife like me. No matter what I did to lose weight i couldnt.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I hated shopping for clothes. I only did it cause i had to wear something, but i hated it so much.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Excersing. and being able to keep up with my children.

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

A friend of mine had it done. I was interested but scared cause of all the negative stuff I heard about it.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

My hospital stay was wonderful, the staff knew what they were doing and made sure i was comfortable. I was in the hospital for 3 days. Bring slippers and a phone card to make any calls you need cause the hospital charges alot for any calls you make going outside.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

no complications at all.

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

the 1st week was rough but other then that i bounced right back and was ready to go back to work in 2 weeks.

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

I dont go to a support group, where i live we dont have one and the one for my drs office is so far away.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

my scar isnt bad at all i had the lap procedure so I have 7 tiny lil scars. i think its better then I expected.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

nope there not treating me any different.
