Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

i was a woman that laugh when someone say something about weight,but when it came down to it i was looking for a way out.I did the shot and pills and everything they said will help i lose weight.i even got to the point that when i taken the pills i wouldn't eat thinking that will help and it didn't.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

have someone who have no ideal what u r going thought tell u all u need to do is pull back from the table or just eat the right food and leave junk food along.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Not much this is new to me and i haven't gotten to enjoy it .

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

I heard about it when i was in Ft. hood but they were not during it there,but lifeline was during it.But when i come here to Ft.Benning i went in to refill my med and a doctor ask my how long have i been over weight and i told her i have as been this way for as long as i can remember.She told me about the surgery and as my if i would like to talk to a doctor about it so, i told her sign it up today.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

It was a long stay but i would do it on a heart beat.I was there for 6 days.That do babe it try to move as much as u can and let go and let god it will hurt some.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

My doctor is a caring person and i would let anyone know about it.He care about u and will tell u anything and everything u want to know all u have to do is ask.

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

i was on pin and needle and a part of me was worry but the most of my was glad to have it in front of me.When i felt the anxiety i try to ask question and move on. I didn't let is stay on my mind.

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

i was sore but i want to keep moving. I was moving slow and it hurt some but i want to do for my self and i know i will be ok.Yes u will hurt a little but keep in mind what follow next.To a new u

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

Not far we live on post and so is the hospitial.but to make my life better i would go arcoss the world.

Please describe in detail what things you could and couldn't eat in the weeks and months following surgery. What foods have been off limits? Please explain how your dietary tolerance changed week-by-week, and then month-by-month since surgery.

I have been able to eat anything i was.i have not find anything off limit but i have no taste for sweets not even in the juice.The only thing i eat in sweet is fruits.i can eat 4ozs and it sometime will take me a hour to eat it.

What was your actvity level in the days and weeks after surgery?

i have to walki a little more each time i go outside. i want to wait until after my second visit to do more i can tell i am still weak .

What vitamins and/or dietary supplements have you taken since your surgery?

i have to take a prenatal vitamins.

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

I think when i had a the dumping thing and that was a one time i deal.And it happen about two weeks after surgery and it was with me eatering fruit too.i know not i can't eat like that anymore of that amount.

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

the few day of pain.I guess because i had never had surgery.

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

we have a support group called changing faces. I think the world of it and the ladies in the group.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

My scar look great and i can live with it.Yes after seeing other scars i known what it would look like.

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

i have not had any.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes i do a little like my husband said he can see me losing some weight
