Obesity & Me

For years I battled with being the "fat kid" I hated it. And being married, not being able to get pregnant was the last straw.

Not tying my own shoes or being able to have comfprtable sex.

tying my shoes

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

From my step mom who has had the surgery.

I was nervous, but they approved right away

Make tons of eye contact, he will remember you.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

Wanting to be healthy.

I knew which one I wanted by reading stuff online.

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

The same fears everyone has I suppose. Mainly of the IV but after Surgery I soon discovered it was the pain and discomfort for about a week.

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

My husband was supportive so was my family. People at work not at all, but then again they do not know of my struggles with weight all my life.

They did not have much to say and I liked it that way

The hopsital was great. Bring comfy jammies.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

Yes, I was sent home on oxygen for about a week.

Pain, I slept in a recliner and used my heating pad and pain pills a lot!

Oh God too long of a story. I am still learning.
