Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

i cant say that i have been overweight my whole life. i started gaining in my teens but it really got worse after i got married . i have tryed every diet out there.its really depressing .

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

no energy no cloths to fit.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

it takes time

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

i just want to be a healthy wife and mother

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

support group it helps to talk to people who have gone throught it before

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

pray pray pray and put it in the good lords hands

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

they were great about the whole thing , i was out of work 3 weeks

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

my stay was great . i was there frome monday till thursday .house shoes because you will be walking alot .

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

i had a kink in my intestines so i had to have surgery again.but everything else went great .

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

i was just so ready i didnt have any anxiety.

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

that they will be very thirsty but this will pass .

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

2 hours but so far it has not affected my aftercare . i feel like my dr. is worth the drive.

Please describe in detail what things you could and couldn't eat in the weeks and months following surgery. What foods have been off limits? Please explain how your dietary tolerance changed week-by-week, and then month-by-month since surgery.

meat is still not doing well for me at 7 weeks

What was your actvity level in the days and weeks after surgery?

very good

What vitamins and/or dietary supplements have you taken since your surgery?

3 tums a day ,2flintstones a day

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

vomiting every now and then .you just deal whith it and go on.

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

thirst

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

i go to facesofwls.com support group every month it is very important to me. i went months before surgery, it was very helpful to me.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

i have 7 little scars but there not bad
