Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I tried everything and never got anywhere,just disappointment

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

the name calling and thee talk behind your back and the thought of not being here for my grandchildren and what my children went through

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

play with my grandchildren

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

I was home sick and saw Al Rooker going thruogh surgy on TV so I had the same surgery

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

just keep calling and checking with them.It took me calling everyday for two weeks between the dr. office and the insurance comp.

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

the first time I met with the Dr I could tell he read the papers I sent because he told me thing about myself and suggested test according to my needs.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

I was to tired to do things with my family.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

the Dr. help me I have a scar 8" long

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

I pray alot and I just said its time,

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

they were behind me all the way.they are grate

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

I told my supervisor rite after my husand and he was grate. I was out of work 4 weeks.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

It was ok my husband stay with me the whole time. I was their 4 days

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

no not a one

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

I was ready

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

my husband took compleat control the first 2weeks were hell,then it got better

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

2 hrs away and it was not bad

Please describe in detail what things you could and couldn't eat in the weeks and months following surgery. What foods have been off limits? Please explain how your dietary tolerance changed week-by-week, and then month-by-month since surgery.

I've only been 3 months out ,the firs 2 weeks were liquids only NO RED MEAT AT ALL other than that just about anything chicken is a trip one day ok the next not

What was your actvity level in the days and weeks after surgery?

the first 2 weeks not much after that I go to curves 3 time a week walk,clean house

What vitamins and/or dietary supplements have you taken since your surgery?

the only thing is protine drink

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

the only thing is vomiting ,not well

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

the staples

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

none at the moment

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

its very thin and long and I expected worse
