Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

well i have always beed a loner because of my weight and i was a closet eater most of the time .

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

being a lone and feeling like you don't belong anywhere .....

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

walking around and being super tired after a few minutes

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

i had a friend who had it years ago,and i had a doctor tel me all about it a couple oif years before i decided to do it . i was totally againsted it at first

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

no problems at all

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

ask questions ask question >>> my doctor was the best ,he explained everything and answered any question i had

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

i wanted to live without all the medicail problems that run in my family ,and i wanted to have a real life not just be alive

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

this is the only one my doctor does ,and since he was the surgen i wanted i went with open ryn

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

never thought to the bad things at all,just kept in mind what it would feel like being healthy

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

very happy that i was doing this

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

everyone at my job was very spportive

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

none

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

i really never thought of the surgery it's self . i mean i knew i was going to have it but i never let myself consider the dangers ,cause i would have freaked out

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

none

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

the waking up after surgery ,cause i was so groggy from the drugs

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

i attened the staple club meetings once a month

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

about 3 inches , not bad at all

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

i have hit 1 plateau about 6 months out ,cause i stoped exercising for abput 2 weeks due to being sick

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes ,everyone is always saying you looking good ,how much have you lost . it gets on your nerves
