Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I tried every diet imaginable with no success. Even was on 900 calorie diet and gained weight.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I hated myself. I hated the way I looked and was very depressed.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I can do just about anything. and even do yard work and get up and down working in the flower beds which I could not do before.

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

Found out our insurance had paid for several people at work to have it done. Felt like it would be a good tool.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

I was in the hospital 5 day. Main thing I need to bring was sweats and a robe. Everything else was provide. Robe too for that matter and it fit.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

No

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

I had to wait three months for my surgery. From the time I got my date until I could have the surgery. It was the longest 3 months of my life.

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

I did not get to go to the support groups. I live too far away.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

It is smaller than I expected.

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

I have had a time since I hit 1 yr. Have not lost any more weight. In the past month I have gained 10 lbs so must go back to basics to start going in the right direction again. I am two years out.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes, People comment on how great I look but to me I am still fat. TOoo much excess skin to feel slim.
