Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have been dieting for the last 15 years, between WW, the Zone Diet, Jenny Craig, Nutra System, Diet Pills, Phen-Phen Atkins, Cabbage Soup Diet. Special -K, Slimfast and i'm sure many others I have forgotten. I have had memeberships to my Local Gym, Curves, Lucille Roberts, Womans Way. I lose about 20-30 pounds within 6 months and then fall off. I just quit smoking September 11, 2006 and that really put me over. I gained alot of weight within the first 3 months and everything else is now falling apart.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

At this point I don't even want to talk about it because I have ALOT OF FEARS. If I think about them I might sway myself out of having the surgery. I AM VERY SCARED!!!!!

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

I would say they are 50/50 on the idea. Some friends tell me i'm crazy and don't understand how I could do this. I try to explain it may be life or death but they still don't get it.
