Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

HAD A LOT TO TROUBLE WITH MY JOB BECAUSE OF TYPE OF WORK,A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE VERY CRUL TO ME.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

NO BEING ABLE TO DO THINGS WITH MY GRAND KIDS AND MY WIFE, FELT TIRDE ALL THE TIME, COULD NOT WALK BUT SHORT DISTANCE

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I AM ABLE TO WORK HARD AND WALK, I TOOK MY GRAND KIDS TO SEAWORLD AND WALKED ALL DAY WITH VERY LITTLE PROBLEMS 2 YEARS AGO THE SAME TRIP I COULD NOT WALK AROUND SEAWORLD I JUST SET DOWN AND WAITED FOR MY WIFE AND GRANDKIDS TO RETURN HOE GREAT IT IS

COULD NO DO ANYTHING TO TIRDE

I LISTNED TO DIFFERENT THINGS IN TV ALSO WENT TO WEB SITS AND READ WHAT PEOPLE HAD TO SAY, AND THE DR EXPLAINED WHEY HE DID RNY

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

NONE

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

THEY THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GREAT

VERY GOOD CONCERDING THE PAIN BUT THE HOSPITABLE WAS SET UP FOR BIG PEOPLE IT WAS GREAT

I HURT BUT NOTHING I COULD NOT HANDLE

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

I COULD ONLY DRINK LIQUIDS

What was your actvity level in the days and weeks after surgery?

LAYED AROUND ABOUT A WEEK THEN WALKED FOR THREE WEEKS RETURNED TO WORK 1 M0NTH AFTER WORK , I WAS ON LIGHT DUTY FOR ABOUT 4 WEEKS, STILL SORE FOR 4 MOR WEEK THEN I REALLY STARTED GETTING BACK TO MY OLD SELF BEFOR I GAINED SO MUCH WEIGHT.

What vitamins and/or dietary supplements have you taken since your surgery?

CHEWABLE KIDS VITIAMS

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

ONLY SIDE EFFECT WAS VOMITING WHEN I ATE SOMETHING WITHOUT CHEWING

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

PEOPLE I MET IN DR OFFICE

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

I DO HAVE A SCAR BUT IT IS WELL WORTH IT I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

7/7/02 I HAVE BEEN ON A PLATEAU FOR ABOUT 6 WEEKS I AM LOOSING WEIGHT AGAIN SLOWER, I WORK A LOT HARDER NOW I BELIVE THIS MAKES ME EAT MORE I HAVE LOST 90LB BUT I FEEL GREAT.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

YES LOTS OF SUPPORT FROM PEOPLE WHO USE TO GIVE ME HARD TIME. EVERYONE COMMENTS HOW MUCH BETTER I LOOK
