Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I had diabetes and I was over weight I have alway had a battle with weight seem like every thing I tried I would fail I had gotten to the point In my life I wanted to die because I felt life had no meaning if I couldn't take care of myself even on day i thought I was doing good with my blood sugar I would go to the doctor and my feeling will be destroyed becasue even tough I haven't eaten anything all night and was taking and fasting blood sugar test It would still be high so after a while i got fed up and I just stop takng my insulin and my doctor told me that by me not taking my medication I was considered sucidial and she refered me to Doctor Terrance Fullum and he changed my life com[letely.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I could buy nice clothes and seem like nothing fit and peoiple alway laugh at me and cracked fat joke that really hurt my feeling even though I pretended it din't bother me but whe I wa alone I would cry.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

going out side on my porch and meeting my neighbors

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

my family doctor referred me bvecause I was considered sucidical because I wasn't taking my diabetic medication I did a lot of investigation that when I found Obesity help and they gave me plenty of information about the surgery

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

My hospital stay was very nice I was in there for 2 days after the surgery the doctor and nurses where very nice and caring. the most inportant thing i brought with me was my faith and trust in God that he would see me through the surgery with out any complication and he did.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

none

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

I waw great my husband was very supportive and he help me out when I felt like I wanted to give up

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

I haven't been to any support group I still have low self esteem about my self I feel I will never lose the weigh tbut I no I'm losing everybody else see it but I don't I really need a good support group

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

no I thought they would get smaller over time some did but there one that just want fade away like the others.

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

I am having a serious plateau I thought I had lost down to 198 eight pounds but I found out he scale was broken so I haven't lost over 100 pounds yet and it has been over a year I had my sergury January14,2003 and I only lost 68 pound.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes everybody treat like I have done a really good thign but I don't becasue I'm still doing the wrong thing and eating the wrong foods.
