Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

i have been over weight all my life. i have tried to lose the weight on my own so many times and would lose 60 pounds and gain it right back plus more with it

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

being fat and having to go to the plus sizes to get clothes to wear

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

getting to go places with my daughter without having to stop to rest from the walking

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

i first heard about it when my pcp dr talked to me about it and my first response was hell no your not getting me to do that surgery i have heard alot of bad things about it

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

my experience with getting it approved was good they sent it in on june 12th 2005 and was approved on june 15th 2005

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

my stay was wonderful all the nurses and aides was good i went in on august 17th2005 for my surgery and came home august 19th 2005. i took everything with me but i didnt use anything but my personal things like soap shampoo things like that

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

not really it has left me to where i can't eat or drink dairy products

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

i felt really good i was excited about it and i had to wait 2 months for my surgery and thats the hardest things to do is wait

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

they was slow slow with everything you do home health came in and took care of my incisions and gave me my shots i got up and walked alot or at least as much as i could and as many time as i could

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

i have my family and they are great the closest support group is an hour away from me

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

i have 6 small scars this is what i was hoping for instead of the big one

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

i went thru a couple of them but not til i had lost about 80 pounds the first 80 was easy but the past 40-50 hasnt been

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes my husband is super jealous of me now and every where i go he thinks he has to go
