Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was an emtional rollar coaster. I feel as if i lived to eat . Not eat to live.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

constantly looking at myself to make sure i was ok , when i went anywhere. wishing i would be able to fit in a seat comfortably.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

excercise , shop in regular stores and fit in chairs.

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

I heard of people on my job that had it. I saw the results and they were amazing.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

my stay in the hospital was very restfull, i could not wait for the doctors to knock me out. The hospital was very nice the staff was excellent. maybe a robe or magazines because after surgery andwatching tv all you see is food comercials .

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

Not really ,i attimes chew fast and bring up my food but i have to remember to chew, chew, chew.

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

i was sad , depressed because i came home christmas eve.

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

hyper , tired and then hyper again

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

twenty miles

Please describe in detail what things you could and couldn't eat in the weeks and months following surgery. What foods have been off limits? Please explain how your dietary tolerance changed week-by-week, and then month-by-month since surgery.

the first three weeks liquids like broth, no creamy stuff ran through me . after a month soft cheese and yougurt. appesause and jello. i could not eat chicken , although i tried nuggets.no breading . Ground meat , turkey is good with me and overcooked pasta. Now at 7 months i can eat salads small plate size broled salmon , baked chicken, turkey wings, spinich and canned corn.

What was your actvity level in the days and weeks after surgery?

for the first 3 months so so. But after the 4th month i started excercising constantly.

What vitamins and/or dietary supplements have you taken since your surgery?

vista vitamins capsules, liquid centrum, flintstones chewables.

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

six monthsafter surgery i had hair breakage. I bought nioxin, organic root stimulator and temple baum.

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

bring up food whenit gets stuck in your chest. that feels horrible.

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

My surgeon had a pre-op and post -op support group that is excellentand truly helps.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

It is good, it is clearing up well. i use cordran tape perscribed by my md.

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

well after 4 moths i was at a stand still with my weight. and then within two weeks the weight flew off.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes, it is crazy.
