Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

i was a very closed in person never went out with my family never went to any family functions was just a loner i cried all the time kept my home dark would not even get the mail out the mail box

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

i always thought people was watching me and laughing at me even my family i closed myself from them stayed in bed all the time would not get dressed in front of my husband thought i was to ugly

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

having gooood sex walking and most but not least shopping

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

i had a friend girl who had it done 2 yrs ago and i swore i would never have a surgery that would make me throw up if i ate the wrong thing but know things are different

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

i am on disability so the state paid for my surgery i had no problem they approbed on the first try

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

i had met him previously so i knew what he was like just go in ther and ask all the questions u need to even the ones that might seem dumd to u might be the most important one of all

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

i went grocery shopping one week end because my husband was ill and i broke in a sweat back started to hurt me so bad that i could not finish my shopping and i broke down and cried

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

they went by my bmi

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

i had no fears i just prayed and i also had my family support

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

they were with me one hundred percent i would not havd done any thing any different

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

i was not employed

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

i had no problems after my surgery

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

i was just like a bady in a toy store i talked and i talked about it but i hope no one hot tired if they did they said nothing because i know i talked a lot

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

the first 2 3 weels i slepted in a recliner cause i could not lay flat

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

about 6 miles

Please describe in detail what things you could and couldn't eat in the weeks and months following surgery. What foods have been off limits? Please explain how your dietary tolerance changed week-by-week, and then month-by-month since surgery.

the only thing i could not eat is cream of wheat eggs and i still to this day can not stand the smell of fried food

What was your actvity level in the days and weeks after surgery?

i just took one day at a time i ded not push my self to do anytheng

What vitamins and/or dietary supplements have you taken since your surgery?

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

i have only vomited one time i ate some chinese food to fast and oh boy did it make me sick i will never forget that it only last about 15 minbut other than that nothing if i was not losing weight i wonder did i really have the surgery

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

i can not even think of anything and that is the truth i promise u that

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

i have good friend who is very supportive i also have my wonderful husband who i love very much

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

it is a very nice clean scar i had 32 stitched

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes people are not so quick to judge me and say that i am lazi i just do mot want to it cause know they see thoat i do it myself
