Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Kept to myself, Quiet, shy. Really didnt like my self esteem

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Having my hips area go numb after just walking a few feet while shoppong, Being out of breath all the time. Not being able to wear nice comfy clothes.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

walk without pain. sit indian style play wih daughter and not hurt

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

Tv commercial I thought ,,yeah right how is that going to last the rest of your life.

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

Shorter than expected, was only in for 4 days. Clothes for when u get to go home,,,lots of books.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

none

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

I kept thinking,,OH god what did i get myself into.

What aftercare support group/program do you have? How helpful/important is this?

Yes they were,,I went faithfully every month,,until I couldnt afford gas. Plus I started college,,and needed time for studying. Now I would like to start going to them again.

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

barely noticable

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

I am at one right now,,,I had a baby in august 2003,,,and have started to gain weight again,,,,,I would like information on what to do after having a baby to get back to the weight i was before getting pregnant.

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

yes ,,,more friendly. No name calling.
