How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

One of my friends had it done and o was all for it

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

It was Very fast at that time i had the Qpos plan and i was able to call in the percert myself so i called it in before my apt and by the time i went in it was already approved and all i need was for my dr. office to call my ins company

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

He was very laid back and he let me ask as many questions as i wanted

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

I talked to over with my dr and we decided that the vbg was the one for me

What fears did you have about having complications or even dying from from the surgery, and what would you tell other people having the same fears now?

i didnt have any

How did your family and friends react to your decision? Would you have communicated anything differently if you could now? How supportive were they after your surgery?

my family was very afraid and didnt want me too but i told them this is my life and they dont have to live in this body i do and my friend were wonderful now were all happy and i would do it all over again

How did your employer/supervisor react to your decision? What did you tell him/her? How long were you out of work?

she was happy for me and i was off 8 weeks

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

It was wonderful everyone there were do helpful and they seemed to understand what i was feeling and i was there 5 days

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

no

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

In the 1st two week i cried everyday but i wasnt in pain or anything it was just a lot to get deal with but im fine now

Describe your first few weeks home from the hospital. What should people expect from this period?

Dont expect to do much of anything just rest and walk when you can

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

What was your actvity level in the days and weeks after surgery?

i just wanted to rest but now i can runn and play with my son life is good again

What side effects (nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbace, dumping, hair loss etc.) were worse for you? For how long after surgery did they persist? How did you cope with them?

the only time i have any side affects is when i try to over eat then theres the vomiting but i dont to that much at all now

What was the worst part about the entire bariatric surgery process?

getting use to how little you can eat

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

It not to bad it is long abd i dont show it to many poeple but soon i'll be getting my tummy done and it will be gone but right now i think of it as my life line (smile)

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

i havent had any yet

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

Yes now people (men) love me (smile)
