Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have been overweight for many years now. I took the med phen-fen and was very happy with my results, only to regain more weight once they were d/c'd. I am very unhappy with my weight because of my limitations now. It is difficult for me to do much activity without getting SOB.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not able to do the things I use to do.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

More selection in clothes. I still have weight to lose before I can answer anymore

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

Ins approved in 3 days after receiving the indo from the surgeons office.

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

I liked him very much, very informative. Told me all of the pro's and con's

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

I want to fell better. I have arthritis and the extra weight on my joints have made it so hard for me to do the things I want to do.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

What was your stay in the hospital like? How long where you there? What things are most important to bring?

Hospital staff was great. I felt everyone of the staff involved in my care gave 110%. They also were great with my husband, he stayed with me my first 2 post op days and they attended to his every need also.

Did you have any complications from the surgery? If so, how did you deal with them?

No

In the weeks after you got your surgery date, how did you feel? How did you cope with any anxiety you might have felt?

I am 13 days post op. I have been getting stronger each day. I feel a little weak in the legs still. I have been walking every morning and each day it is a little easier. I have lost 21.5 lbs in my 13 days

How far did you travel to have your surgery? (If far, how did this affect your aftercare?)

about 80 miles. It only take 1hour 30 minutes to get to the doctors office. It is a major highway going to it and the travel is no problem.

Please describe in detail what things you could and couldn't eat in the weeks and months following surgery. What foods have been off limits? Please explain how your dietary tolerance changed week-by-week, and then month-by-month since surgery.

Currently I am on full liquids. My doctor requires 6 weeks of liquids. This includes yougat, oatmeal, soft cooked eggs, soups, etc

What is your scar like? Is this what you expected?

healing well. made larger due to previous scar

Please describe any plateau experiences you have had since surgery.

One so far when I got dehydrated. Once hydrated I started losing again

Do you notice people treating you any differently now?

Yes, It seemed to me that i am no excepted because I am not obese now.
