Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

As a man I never thought I could be an emotional eater.... Eating because of feelings? Pfffffffft! But truth be told I did this alot....without even knowing it. Many of us guys sometimes have a hard time showing or discussing our feelings....so overheating to deal with these emotions seemed logical. I myself have been always open with my feelings, I wear my heart on my sleeve so to speak and never thought id have emotional eating issues because I was always able to share my feelings......boy was I WRONG! This just seemed to open the flood gates as I relied on comfort foods more and more.....I even seemed to eat for other peoples emotions as well. I've always been told I've been the proverbial "WHITE KNIGHT" and this only made my road to obesity that much easier.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I hated having so much issues with tying my shoes, putting on socks, fitting comfortably in a movie theatre(being 6'4 didnt help either), doing up seat belts in small cars, not being able to go on certain amusement rides, breathing heavy and lastly having to wear a cpap machine... These were some of the worst things for me, nothing in paticular was the worst because being obese effects EVERY ASPECT of your life!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Having WLS in less than a month. Whoo Hoo!
