Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have been overweight my whole adult life. I missed out on so much. All I thought about was food. I let it control my life, used it as a crutch. I would do the fad diets, join all the weight loss programs. I probably could teach any class..LOL! I would do ok for the first 40 pounds, then something would click in my brain....I would stop..gain it back, plus more. Before long I was 380 pounds, miserable, almost unable to get around because my knees are totaly shot. Gastric Bypass surgery was my last resort, and my life saver!!!!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

There were so many things, my list is so long of the things I hated about being overweight. Walking into a room, everyone looking at you like you were a freak. Not being able to walk without getting out of breath, and my knees screaming like I was killing them. Having to get an extender for the seat belt when I flew, not being able to go to an amusement park and ride the rides. Being embarrassed when you ordered food, because you felt like everyone was watching you to see what the "fat" girl was going to eat.....the list goes on and on!!!!!!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

LIFE and living......I felt like I was exsisting before. I still have 55 lbs to go, maybe a little more...we will see when I get the last 55 off....only 55......WOW!
