Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

And up and down journey with a more steady increase in weight through time more than anything else! Cancer survivor, diabetes II struggle, infertility issues, and premature baby as a result of it all. Depression due to my lack of activity and motivation and the overall disappointment in myself for having gotten so unhealthy!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not being able to fit comfortably into airplane seats, rollercoasters for one.. but the worst was giving birth to my premature son and then not being able to even properly take care of him because I was too tired, and couldn't keep up with him!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I run, I exercise regularly. I love snowboarding-- would have never gotten on a snowboard before! I am cancer free, and have a higher likelihood of staying healthy! I can keep up with my son and now am his biggest motivator for living a healthy life!

ARE YOU READY TO PAY IT FORWARD & SHARE YOUR JOURNEY? Your journey will help highlight the many ways weight loss surgery improves lives and makes a difference in our families, communities and world. EACH JOURNEY COUNTS as a voice towards greater awareness.
