Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I had always been overweight, and after two years of college, my eating habits and lack of exercise pushed me over the edge! I think I was in denial of how large I had gotten. I knew my clothing size was getting larger and larger, but it wasn't until I almost maxed out the sizes in the plus side section that I realized I had a big problem!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Always feeling self conscious...anytime someone looked at me I immediately assumed they were thinking about my weight. Buying clothes was also difficult.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I completed my first triathlon last summer! I remember when I first started my serious workout regimen, my trainer suggested I set a goal like running a race or completing a triathlon and I laughed. Feels good to say that I can now not only race, but be a competitive athlete in these events!
