Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I've tried lots of diets and became very frustrated when I wasn't losing as I expected. I heard about the gastric vertical sleeve through one of the doctors that I work for. She had the surgery two years and ago and she looks amazing. Her life has completely changed since she lost the weight and was able to take control. I want to be that person too.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

It's very depressing. The style of clothes are bascially the same (I own a lot of black clothes). I've backed out of attending outings with family and friends because of being embarrassed. I buy sizes bigger so that my clothes don't cling to me and show my fat rolls. I have to use a CPAP at night because of severe sleep apnea. I suffer from pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, high tryglicerides, and lack of energy.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

If all goes as planned, I'm hoping to have gastric vertical sleeve surgery in July.
