Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I rarely get upset about my weight but on occasion someone can blindside me with a comment that really hits me deep. I learned at an early age that if you learn to "make it your own" then nobody can use it against you to hurt you. I am fairly comfortable being overweight except for the health concerns. I am not trying to have this surgery to look better or feel better about myself, i am doing it for my kids and one day my grandchildren. I want to be there to walk my little girl down the aisle and watch my boy play sports in high school. I want to be around in 30 or 50 years instead of dying from being overweight before I hit 40 or 45!

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, having no energy....ever! Never being able to find clothes that fit right and if you do, they cost too much to buy them!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I have not had my surgery yet but I plan to have it very soon! Just waiting on the insurance company to come through then finding out how much I have to come up with! It's very exciting!
