Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was caught up in a roller coaster ride of eating , losing a few pounds, then gaining it all back again with a vengence. I would feel guilty and shy about my size. I wore a size 8x. I would avoid social situations because i was so big. I feared going to the movies little kids would start laughing and point their fingers.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I was passed for many job opportunities because of my size. People would stare. I would get embarrassed. Exercise was hard and I was ashamed to go to the gym.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I had gastric bypass surgery about a year ago. I have lost over 250 pounds. I have gone down 6 sizes in my clothes. The most important thing is I eat right now and only eat 4oz. at a time. I drink only water' I quit eating bread. I exercise everyday I walk at least five miles a day on a good day I've made it to eight miles. I go to the gym everyday. I am back down to where I was in my 20's. I feel like I'm 18 again. I want to stress portion control and exercise.
