Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Where to begin? Just like many others I have a lifetime of fighting obesity. It finally beat me at the age of 50 and I succumbed to the depression that was always near. I ballooned up to over 500 lbs and became homebound. I don't know why I am alive. My blood pressure was up to 287/146 and I was not a fun person to be around. The saddest part is I drug my wife into the abyss with me.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The shame of being seen in public.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I have many great things happening now. I have lost 300 lbs and had both knees replaced. I recently started working again and I am starting to really feel good about myself. Heck, I even buy clothes at Walmart.
