Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I had battled weight since I was a kid. I got a grip in college and had exercised regularly, then after I got a job junk food and eating poorly during 16 hour work days took it's toll. Not to mention my emotional self esteem was very low and people treated me poorly because of it, because I let them. I believed myself inferior and unlikeable. Over time I finally got it and knew I was worthwhile through the efforts of some good friends who not only supported me mentally, but helped me change into a better person and reminding me was worthwhile. Unfortunately, the weight was still a factor and although I wore it well, it took it's toll on me physically. By the time I turned 40 Iw as cusping 400lbs with bad feet, bad knees, sleep apnea, back issues, and a bad mental state. Ready to argue and no patience for others when I felt they looked at me in "that way".

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The physical limitations, the pain, and the ability to only dream of doing things I sued to do.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I enjoy being outdoors, riding my Harley, swimming, and the support my friends, family, and co-workers have given me. People who were distant, ho had judged me a certain way, especially t work, seemingly transformed with me seeing I had taken control and that they noticed I was happier, easier to work with, and they wanted to help.
