Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have always been over weight. My whole childhood and teenage years were filled with eating, not just when I got hungry, but eating when I was happy, bored, stressed, ect. I never had someone to tell me when I should stop, so I never did. I was 19 when I had my surgery. I weighed 353 pounds, I am now at a healthly weight (160).

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing about being overweigh, for me, was that I could not move, I was somewhat stuck. I never was able to walk long distances. I could barely find clothes to fit me, I was living in a bubble and my weight kept me there.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

This is silly, but I can cross my legs! I never was able to do that before, So everytime I can I cross my legs. I also enjoy walking without stopping to catch my breath every 5 seconds.
