Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I've struggled with weight issues since I was 14 years old. I tried any and everything I could to lose weight. It wasn't until after the birth of my second child, that I hit rock bottom. I weighed more than I'd ever weighed before...275. It was then that I decided to have Gastric Bypass.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing about being overweight was being too ashamed of myself to get "out there" and enjoy life. I was too FAT to go swimming with my kids or to swing on a swing or even run around with them.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

After having Gastric Bypass I now enjoy being able to chase my kids around the yard, follow them down the slide, and to get in the water with them at the swimming pool.
