Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have been overweight since I was a early teenager. Life was not good for me as I didn`t have many friends or anyone that wanted to be around me. I am an only child and didn`t have any siblings to stick up for me, so I was picked on so much. But i dealt with it and now that I am older and still a very obese it was time for me to do something about it. I have been on the list for 2 yrs now and having my surgury in Guelph Tuesday July 31st 2012. I can`t wait to begin my new journey. I have a beautiful 16 yr old daughter whom is my rock and my life, I love you so very much. My highest weight was over 400lbs, and going into this surgery I am at 320lbs. I have OA in both knees and the pain is so unbearable somedays, I can`t wait to be able to walk, ride a bike, do things with my daughter and just have fun. To go to stores and buy clothing that I like not that I have to wear. I have many great friends and family to support me through this time in my life and I am very lucky. I love you all, and ty for sharing this journey with me..i can``t wait to post pic`s as i am loosing and then when i reach my goal.....

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Being unhealthy, not being able to do things with my daughter and friends, can`t wear clothes I like have to go to plus size, and having people stare at you and call you names say nasty things...it`s not nice at all...

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Having surgery on July 31st 2012
