Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I went from being overweight to super obese. The emotional toll comes from not being able to keep up with my full beautiful life. I've become a referee instead of a player in my life.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Chronic disease and chronic pain.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

How did you first find out about bariatric surgery and what were your initial impressions of it?

I worked for a surgeon who worked with bariatric patients. My initial impressions were that I would never get bypass surgery. Years ago the complications were severe and the only patients I came incontact with were those with gallbladder disease and digestive complications.

Describe your experience with getting insurance approval for surgery. What advice, if any, do you have for other people in this stage?

I was switched from a three month track to a six month track. I suggest that you find out what your primary and secondary insurance covers.

What was your first visit with your surgeon like? How can people get the most out of this meeting?

Impersonal. I think listening and asking questions is key.

What made you finally decide to have the surgery?

Being on a strict diet and gaining weight.Chronic pain and the loss of the ability to walk 2 miles.

How did you decide which proceedure to have?

I decided through the information session and my first session with my surgeon.
