Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have always been a little on the heavy side. After my kids were born I ballooned up to 330 lbs. It really depressed me being that big. I could not enjoy my granddaughter and do things with her. I had tried every diet plan out there. Would lose 20-40lbs and then stop. Would end up at Dr or in hospital. Got tired of trying. So checked into weight loss surgery.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I had all kinds of health issues. High blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes, gerd, hiatal hernia, depression, anxiety, and ptsd. I cannot enjoy doing things with my granddaughter due to my weight. I don't feel sexy to myself much less to my husband.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Now that I had the Lap-band surgery I am able to walk a lot more. I don't give out as easy. I can get out and do more. I can enjoy my granddaughter and look forward to being able to enjoy my new grand baby when it arrives.
