Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have always had a weight problem. As a child I was able to keep the weight down due to being very active, riding bikes, playing sports. As I grew into an adult and stopped my activities the weight starting coming on. I gained weight with both of my pregnancies and never took it off. My work for 26 years has been customer service sitting on my butt all day, coming home eating and going to bed. Now here I'am, 48 years old, and obese.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I have NO life. I feel like a prisoner. No mobility at all. Going to a movie and I can't fit into the seats. Not being able to drive due to the steering wheel hitting my big belly. Not being able to walk without being winded. Going to the store to buy clothes. THE WORST.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I'm Pre-op at this time. My surgery date is still pending. I have been through all the testing and have lost my 10% of weight. I'm just waiting on my date!!! : )
