Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I would always joke about my weight to make people think I was ok with my weight, but all the while very insecure and very worried what people thought.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I could not keep up with my kids. I could not run I could not play with them. When we went out I was wondering if my kids were ashamed to be with me knowing that is not true but could not help feel that way. I would go to amusement parks and could not fit on the rides. At Dollywood I was asked to get off the ride because the safety harness would not secure over me.I wanted to do a zip line with my son and weighed to much for it.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Since my Surgery I have more energy. I can actually touch my wrist behind my back. I am off my blood pressure medicine. My knees do not hurt as much. I can actually sit in movie theater chair comfortably. Now I am not over weight requirements for Zip lines.
