Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

Emotionally it was hard as I just got worn down a lot and always felt lazy which was extremely depression for me, as I have always been an active outdoors person who loves hiking and going on canoe trips. So I still continued to do those things but it was always more work and my trips not less and and not as long. My nephew who loves doing the samethings would come with me a lot of the time. He made a commet last year. "I love going with you uncle, but I am always worried you are going to have a heart attack, the way you are always huffing and puffing and sweating"

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Not being able to find clothes that fit, and looking in the mirror and not being happy with who I was was.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am only 2 months post op but I have lost a total of 50lbs so far and now I smile when I look in the mirror and I'm finding clothes in the closet that haven't fit me in quite sometime. And of course the multiple comments I am getting already on how good I look. It sure feels good!
