Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I'm an emotional eater...in that, I eat to celebrate, when I'm sad, when I'm mad...etc. Being from the south, we eat at all occasions - that's just what we do.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing for me about being overweight is not having the energy to have an active life. I want to go for hikes, and work in the yard and have hobbies that involve being outside with my family. I'd also be lying if I didn't admit that I hate shopping for clothes - the plus-sized departments just suck, and I want to be able to shop in the normal sizes.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I've not had surgery yet - but I'll answer this after July 10th!
