Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have 3 beautiful children, two of them in their twenties and my last is 14 years old. My weight seemed to stick after the last one so the battle began six months after I gave birth in 1999, everytime I would go shopping the size seemed to increase to much.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing is feeling ugly, staying in the house not being able to feel good because I felt I did not look good, then the health issues began, before I knew it I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, etc...pill after pill after pill. This is too much to deal with, what happened to the active me, I began my journey to find her and traveled this long road of diet fads, to starving myself to no avail the weight stayed or bounced throughout the years. I decided to talk to my doctor and come up with a plan to do something, and now my journey continues as I begin my new life to a better, healthier way of living.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I am two weeks post op so far and hav lost 17 pounds, at the present I am enjoying the numbers falling.
