Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was always over weight starting from a little girl and I got teased a lot. I tried everything to lose weight but nothing seemed to help. I got married in 2000 but my marriage did not last, my then spouse made front of me and not only that I was dealing with have extra weight after giving birth to my son who is now 10. I went through a terrible divorce and now I am a single parent all over again. After learning about Bariatric Surgery my life took on a whole new meaning.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst thing I find about being over weight is being made front of, going on a plane and having to pay for an extra seat, not being able to by the clothes you want to wear because of your size, but most importantly being overweight can cause sever health issues. I had asthma, sleep apnea and high blood pressure.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

What I enjoy most now since I have had the weight loss surgery and I don't regret having the procedure which I had 7 years ago today March 23 my anniversary. I am able to buy the clothes I want, enjoy pretty much all foods but still know my limits, able to run and spend times with my son who is 10 and very active.
