Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I have been overweight since I was molested at age 9. I started gaining weight pretty fast during that time. I was so young that i didn't understand what or why i was eating, but I would sneak into the kitchen to eat at night when nobody could see me. I am now 31 and I weigh 319 lbs. I am a single mother of 3 girls and I want to be around for them as they grow up. I have been dieting off and on over the years but I have gained more weight than I ever lost. I eat really healthy food I just eat way too much of it. I've never been a junk food junkie.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

My 13 year old is a cheerleader and I think she is embarrassed to be seen with me. My 6 and 4 year old ask me why Im so fat. It is hard not to cry in front of them when they say there things so I've started telling them that it's going to all disappear they just hAve to watch really close! ;-)
