Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

All my child hood till about 12 I was bone thin due to many factors in my family life then around 12 things got bad and I started to gain, lose and so on till the age of 36. I recognise I have a food addiction for a couple of reasons but am also very willing to learn about healthy living practises and choices and am working on becomming even more disciplined and motivated to keep doing the best that I can for my future. I'm also very grateful to God and my surgeon for accepting me and my family dr. Dr.Fiala for listening to me when I hit rock bottom. I'm very happy and blessed with my husband to he realy has stepped up to the plate and is really really helping me in many ways. I'm so proud of my children for doing their part and helping around the house and keeping up their great grades at school and for being good children over all.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Havig people judge you based on your appearance, paying WAY TOO MUCH for the basic necessities like shirts, underwear and bras. Not being able to move anymore and especially with my children. Dealing with depression, loneliness, fear, medical conditions and most of all constant pain EVERYWHERE. Feeling like a failure like this is the one thing that I can't do even though i help and motivate and support everyone else. For closing off a big part of me and my heart to the world and my family and friends.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I already feel empowered for my choice and I am feeling happier for my future.
