Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I am 41 years 5ft 9 and weigh 300lbs. As a child I was a little overweight and never thought much of it because I was always very active and could keep up. As a teenager I was skinny stayed active and still thought I was fat. Always wondered my mother sister dad and brother all stayed small. I ate healthy and was always active. Then in my 20s I would gain and then lose it all and more, I yoyo'd like that until I hit 27 then I just stayed at 250. I got married, had my daughter at 32 I weighed 257 in the beginning of my pregnancy and 257 when I had her, lost 40lbs within 4months, six months after birth I found out I had graves disease, had the radioactive iodine, my thyroid is not active . I have steadily gained since then. I have fell into bad eating habits, such as no breakfast a bad lunch and sometimes I would eat dinner and sometimes not. I am now ready to do something about my weight and get back to a more active lifestyle. My family are very supportive. My gastric sleeve surgery is scheduled for July 22, 2013. I am very excited!
